The Menaye School Of Hope was founded on 7 September 2000 on three acres of land in the central region of Ghana but lacked basic necessities. Â Menaye Donkor adopted the school after winning Miss Universe Ghana to help build a better environment for the children. She supported the school through fundraisers and her own personal money until two years ago where she raised sufficient amount of money at the “Together for Hope” Gala in Milano which has made a tremendous difference in the school.
The school is located in Agona Asafo, which is considered to be in one of the most deprived regions in the country with very high poverty and illiteracy rates.
The Menaye School Of Hope opened with 78 pupils learning in one school block, and now has 400 children in three blocks. It has so far provided education for many children and gained excellent results in all of its BECE examination (which has prepared them to enter high school). The Menaye Charity Organisation provides everything for the school from the physical buildings and equipment through to the teachers’ salaries, uniforms for the students, books and stationery.
